Moonbeach is a popular name for a region in the north of Ibiza dating back to the hippie times. Located between Portinaxt and Benirras itmeans the coast of Es Calo de S'Illa, specifically the small island Es Caldera and its opposite shores. No maps and roadsigns can guide you there and so it is still an insiders plac , kerpt by many people knowing this location as a secret. . As there have been no constructions the whole area still looks like untouched by human civilasition, moreover like a natural park with pine trees, rocks, some gauges and rocky beaches. Between autumn and spring you can see spectacular sunsets spreading a warm light upon bizarre rock formations,. As scenery a sif you are visiting another planet. Those who love this locatio all wish that there will never be a road or a roadsign leading there - and hopefully moonbeach will never be mentioned in a tourist guide. |

Trees in Ibiza always seem to have their own personality. Depending on the mixture of their ground, like rocks, red earth, chalk earth, dunes or farmers land, they all had to develope their own character in the fight for survival and growth. If they could speak to us, each one would tell his own life history, sometimes going back 400 years or even more, like the very old oil trees between Santa Agnes and San Miguel. Many of the oldest oil trees of the island I found between San Mateo and Santa Agnes appeare for me like unique natural sculptures, impressive as the bronce works of Herny Moore. At least some of them should be regarded as unique testimonies and nature artworks that should be preserved for future generations, Let me here also express my gratefulness for the farmers caring for them with respect and preserving them like a living document of the history of their finca, their family and the one of Ibiza. |

For most visitors and islanders Es Vedra, the Magic Rock ,is the most spectacular viewpoint of the island. Rising sharrply up 400m above the sea the rock island appears in a way supernatural like a relict of ancient times when nature was not tamed by human civilisation . Iis "little brother" Es Vedranell appears like a fosil, a stone-like dragon or sea snake guarding the Magic Rock and its hidden treasures. This dreramlike image of a powerful , overwhelming nature and its forces makes us feel small and humid in regard of the forces of nature. The atmosphere is filled with "Magic". The powers of the rocks seem to be related to the cosmos as if both islands are a phantasylike scenery originating from another planet in the endless spheres of the universe. And so it is not astonishing at all that for many admirers of this view Es Vedra has the meaning of a "power-location, a 'Kraftort' - a good place for meditation - as if you are allowed to leave the earth for some moments to see it in a sort of time machine view as it was many thousands of years ago. No wonder that there are many myths about the relation of the Magic Rock to the ancient kingdom of Atlantis; from which Es Vedra is seen to have been a part. Some even had phantasies of Es Vedra as an ancient ufo-landingplace. If you ever go there to see the Rock from the side of Cap Blanc, dont miss to find the magic landart spiral , which is connecting the powers of the Magic Rock with the Ibiza. And if you find it, why not stand in its center for a moment of quietud closing the eyes...and you will be surprised about your inner picture, phantasies coming up to the surface of your mind.. |

Nearly all portraits by Eckhard Neumann show a combination of landscapes, objects and layers, serving in one way or another an interpretation of the portrayed. To achieve a specific expression he introduces not only various layers, certain objects, landscapes, and perspectives,. Morover he is changing colours in an expressionistic, and also abstract way. Sometimes he is inserting frames like a picture within a picture, and is combining two or more different pictures. The portraits of his dog "Schnusch" are no exemption as he regards human beings and animals with the same respects - they are all beings. All these artistic means are used to make a statement about his relation and his subjective interpretation of aspects of the person portrayed. |
